Fundraiser Postponed

Hello Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to keep up to date on what the Center for Domestic Arts is doing!
We have decided to postpone our fundraiser for later this summer in order to gather more community awareness. At this time we feel that we need to do more advertising as well as provide better clarity on our blog site for what CDAHP will be before we can host a fundraiser.
We are getting great feedback from other like minded folks and supporters and it is this feedback that we have used to make this decision. In the long run it will allow us to build a stronger, more viable community if we do not rush through the process of building CDAHP.
Please continue to follow us as we explore the possibilities of a sustainable home arts community can be.

Coming up!

What do chocolates, margarita cupcakes and specialty brownies have in common? Why they're some of the desserts you will get to sample when you join us on April 23rd for our Dessert tasting and silent auction! Check back in next week when we will start posting pictures of some of the art that's up for auction. Looking forward to seeing you there!
PS. We are still looking for donations for the auction if you have something you would like to share :)

Call for artist submissions for fundraiser

Hello artisan friends!

CDAHP is moving along with our plans for a fundraiser in April and we need your help! We need original works of art and hand crafted goods to auction off. Submissions that are turned in by April 1st will have their business contact information included in the news letter we will be handing out at the auction as well as posted here and on our facebook page. This is a great opportunity for you to get some exposure as an artist as well as help a great cause! Items can come in the form of a single item, a gift basket, a coupon for a service, or...? Be original! Let your work stand out and shine!  We will be taking and posting photo's of all your wonderful contributions.

The purpose for this fundraiser is to raise the initial funds to pay for all the filing fees that the government requires when starting up a fundraiser. As an example, it costs $850 to apply for non-profit status for four years. There are several other costs associated with starting up as well and we would so appreciate your help!

Lastly we are in great need of a web page designer. If anyone knows someone who would be willing to donate their time in setting up our initial site, please pass on our information. THANK YOU!!!

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by to take a peek at Portland's first non-profit Center for Domestic Arts! We are in the initial phase of applying for non-profit status and have recently had our first board meeting. It is an exciting time for all of those that are involved and we hope that you will want to become involved too.

What is the Center for Domestic Arts and Home Preservation (CDAHP)?
CDAHP's mission is to promote social equity, self sufficiency, sustainability, personal growth and positive relations with others through the education of domestic and traditional arts. We will provide arts and craft classes at affordable prices so that our entire community can benefit. Further, we will provide business and marketing training and provide a place for you to sell your creations. We strive to create both personal and local economic growth.

That's it, in a tiny nutshell, but our blog is still under construction,so please check back soon for updates! In upcoming weeks we will explain much more about our center and how you can become involved.

Creating a non-profit is very time consuming and will take many of us to work together to create our community. As we are in the initial stage, we are in need of board members, volunteers and interns. We are currently looking for:
 - volunteers to help prepare our first fundraising arts auction that will be held April 23, 2011
- Grant writers
- a lawyer
- a marketing intern
- a web designer
and the following board member officers:
-President
-Secretary

To learn more about any of these positions please email us at:

We look forward to hearing from you!
